FCUM travel arrangements
We are now taking bookings for coach travel to the away match against FC United of Manchester (?FCUM?) on 22 July.
The match is a return game following our 1-0 win in FCUM?s second-ever game, watched by 3,301 people at Kingsmeadow last July. Like last season, the game has the Supporters? Direct Trust cup at stake and FCUM will be very keen to take it from us in front of their own fans. It is likely to be a close game as, since our win last July, FCUM have gone from strength to strength and ran out clear winners of the North West Counties Division 2, with 87 points from 36 games.
This will be the first trip to Gigg Lane by a Wimbledon team since May 1983, when a 3-1 win saw us complete the double over Bury on our way to the Division 4 championship title. Since then Gigg Lane has undergone a transformation and is now an 11,000 all-seater stadium. Some of the seats still carry our fans? names because, following an appeal for support from across the country, AFC Wimbledon fans led the way in supporting Bury by sponsoring seats.
We are keen to make it as easy as possible for our fans to get to our first long-distance away game for many years. Therefore, we have made the following arrangements:
Coaches will leave from:
. the Woodman at 7.45 am
. Kingsmeadow at 8.00 am
expecting to arrive at about 1.30 pm.
The coaches will be leaving immediately after the game and expect to get back at about 10.00 pm. There will be a short (20 ? 30 minute) stop in the journey each way.
Tickets can be bought by calling the credit card hotline on 020 8547 3528 between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm on weekdays. Please remember there is a £1.50 charge per transaction.
You can also apply by post, enclosing a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a cheque made out to AFC Wimbledon, or by calling into the office between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm on a weekday.
